Foreign opponents Allegations

Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa called for charges against all foreigners associated with vegetable oils international trade war that is not fair. Opposition to the results of research to answer the accusations before.

Speaking at the opening VIII National Congress of Association of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) in Bandung, Thursday (04/12/2012), Hatta asserted, crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives against the accusations of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S..

EPA issued a notification on January 27, 2012, which claims to biodiesel made from palm oil to absorb emissions of less than 20 percent. For this reason, the U.S. refused to CPO. As the world's largest producers, Indonesia and Malaysia still keep the amount of palm oil as raw material for biodiesel that can reduce greenhouse emissions.

There are major differences in calculating emissions and waste oil peat. The U.S. assumed, rising demand for palm oil biodiesel, will increase CPO exports. With demand increasing, there will be expansion of palm oil which will further damage the forest. However, the reason is not strong.

"Therefore, unfair trade war should be our opponent, but not with a careless statement, but the results of research," said Hatta Rajasa.

Vice Chairman of the First Indonesian Palm Oil Board Derom Bangun welcoming attitude Hatta. "We have to consider the invitation of cooperation by the United States. Because, there are a number of people in the U.S. who feel this policy has hurt their friend in Southeast Asia (Indonesia and Malaysia), "said Derom who had just returned from Washington DC following the meeting with EPA officials last March.
